410 testing with 10 shot

Post by Riverrat »

Stevens 301 .410 .390 Indian Creek 7/8 oz. 10 shot. I shot several different chokes and constrictions. This one come out on top of all the other combos. Other combos shot 200+ and some under 200.

If a gobbler puts his head anywhere inside that inner circle, he’s done!

Good pattern
Crazy how you have to try and shoot everything to find the sweet spot with 410

That's a nice spread. I been playing with duplex loads in mine with the same choke setup.
I've been told 10s lose power at 52 yards. I'd like to have some stack in there just to give insurance incase of a misjudged shot.

Thank you. I’ve shot 4 different makes and models of the .410 and they all like something different on setups. They are a challenge, I think that’s why I like them so much.

Nice pattern you have with the duplex load.

Amazing .410 pattern. The finicky nature of the ,410 has me hesitant to build one. I have a nice o/u currently but it fixed chokes and non selective trigger! So I would have to purchase a gun, loading components and then experiment a bunch.

Maybe some day, I like the idea of a 3lb gun!

What do the 15 yard patterns look like with the .410?

I’ve never shot at 15 but I have shot at 25 and 30, you can’t even count the pellets at 25

I don't test at 15 but can assure you it's enough to have some leeway. Here's 30 out of my 301
