My boy got his buck.

Post by southpaw »

He kept wanting to sit in this one spot even tho he wasn't seeing anything in it this year. It paid off for him Saturday morning. Just before 0900 he had a small buck and doe go running by him. He wanted to get a shot on the doe but they wouldn't stop. Then he heard what they were running from. This guy stopped about 30 yards in front of him. Not the best shot ( he shot it facing him) but the placement was spot on. It left a blood trail that Ray Charles could follow.

Congrats!

Straight on isn't a bad shot if placement is on. It looks like he had it figured out.

I will give him this, he is a heck of a shot and he listens. I told him that you need to range several trees around you so when you can not use the rangefinder you know how far he is. He did that and knew how to aim.

Funny part is that he played it down so much that I thought that we were tracking a small 8. It happened so fast that he never had chance to look at the horns. No doubt it was for the best. Had it been me I would have sent the arrow between his horns. Lol.

Forgot to add the numbers. He is 5" around the base with a 19" inside spread. If I did the number correctly it came out to a green score of 141".

And before anyone questions it, he was tagged. That is just the first pic that I took of him when we found it. Will try to post another one latter.
