Turkey Fan Table

Post by Hobbes_mobile »

My previous boss retired a couple of weeks ago and I was fortunate enough to be his replacement. He knows how much I love turkeys, so he made me something without my knowledge. We gave him a couple retirement gifts at his retirement party and he turned around and gave me a rustic coffee/end table that he built. I wasn't expecting it at all and was almost embarrassed by the generosity. He sells wood slabs and builds a few tables with them too.

They moved some file cabinets out of my office today that I don't need so it fits nicely into the corner. I plan to add my turkey feather paintings on the wall above it. They'll think I'm building a wild turkey shrine. :). Maybe I'll stand an elk shed in the corner behind it to confuse them.

That’s awesome. Enjoy it. There are nearly zero bosses out there like your former one so cherish it.

This guy was former Navy. He was very organized and structured, but he was also flexible and willing to work with folks. Some folks didn't like him and considered him rigid, but they weren't the folks that worked for him. If they were, it didn't take long to see where the problem actually was. He's a big hunter, along with a lot of my coworkers, so that never hurts. :)

I was interviewing in another state for a different job that probably was going to pay more back when I took this job 11 years ago. Immediately after my interview here in MT I told my wife, I'll accept if they offer. The two interviews were night and day in how the managers I'd be working with acted and how other folks acted around them. When this job called, I called and backed out of the other one before I knew if they were offering

I added some turkey feather paintings and the two turkey drawings that I did several years ago. I'm going to try to do a drawing that's elk related to add.
