IL Visit
I'm in Southern Illinois until Friday. We went to my nephew's wedding on Saturday. Even after waiting for the rain to clear, it was as nice a wedding as I've been to.
Even though turkey season is out, I've seen three strutters in fields, one in Western KY and a pair this morning here in IL. I really planned to listen this morning but didn't get up early enough. It'll be raining tomorrow morning.
I did find tracks in one of my grandfather's (now my mother's) fields. I also noticed one of Dad's steel targets still hanging and drove out to look at it. It seemed too close for shooting the 223 or 22-250 and too far for handgun work. I'm pretty certain he was shooting this one with his lever action rifles, 44 mag, 45 LC, and 357 mag.
I left it where it stood. Maybe I'll take it down sometime but wasn't ready to do that.

Re: IL Visit
Took the granddaughter fishing. She asked to go and had to carry the worms but she wanted to leave as soon as we got there. I hooked her one little bass almost immediately and she helped drag it in. As soon as the photos were over, she said "okay I'm done". So I put her back on my shoulders and walked a couple hundred yards back home.

Mr. Hobbes, can't imagine your emotions returning home. Oh, and she is growing up way to fast, remember you announcing her Birth. Congrats to you and your family !

I've done better than expected but I've spent most of each day logging into work meetings. I need to make a trip to just go through everything and bring a few more things back to Montana.

Shane,
Ya' know, it's good to leave some things undisturbed until "the ole' home place" is gone, so one can go back and visit and re-live those fond memories of yer' growin' up years of non-pressure and carefree times
That was my take anyway for a few years when I would
I'll bet it won't be long and yer' granddaughter will be wantin' to stay longer to fish, than you will

She won’t remember that
But your gonna tell her that story over and over as the years go by
Good memories

Lord knows how hard it is at first

Re: IL Visit
The Illinois trip went by way too fast. I had to work Monday thru Thursday remotely from Mom's house, one meeting after another, but it was the only way that I could go.
I took a promotion about a month ago, so my schedule has been crammed with meetings while I transition. They offered me the promotion on my Dad's birthday, May 2. Mom really liked that.
My granddaughter loves the family I'm Illinois. This was her second visit. We flew back to MT on Friday. I'm trying to hunt tomorrow and Tuesday here in MT to close out the season but there is plenty of rain in the forecast. I'd planned Saturday afternoon through Monday but I let some things get in the way. It's tough to complain about the season though. I've witnessed a dozen birds called in and carried out of the woods so far. That doesn't include the bird that Isaac killed on a solo hunt.
