Don't lean your gun on a tree.....

Post by gophert »

How many of you have done this. In a haste to get a few decoys out I put my gun against a tree and didn't really pay attention to which tree. Bad mistake. It was a good thing the birds didn't come in.

Paint some orange on it so you can find it when you lay it down somewhere.....

Wow, doesn't get much better, as far as having your camo blending in goes. I've definitely been guilty of doing that a time or two.

Try finding your cell phone (on vibrate) in a camo case that you dropped on the way back to the truck. I don’t use a camo case for just that reason, I’ll tie a strip of blaze orange around my case  . That was after I spent almost two hours helping a friend find his. We did find it, I WAS SITTING ON THE SEAT OF HIS 4 WHEELER. :argue:

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that

A buddy told me about a dog trainer in SD that painted his beater SXS Day Glow Orange. He used it training dogs and when he threw it down to correct a dog, he wanted to be able to find it easily in the grass.

Put a glow in the dark condom over the muzzle, will keep out foreign stuff and you can come back at night and find your gun.

I learned that glow in the dark thing a long time ago. When the wife would fall asleep I used to put one on and walk around the bedroom in total darkness moaning like a zombie, she would wake up and see just the glow in the dark thing and it would scare the hell out of her. Really freaked her out one night when I did that while hanging from the ceiling fan on high speed.

I killed a bird early one morning and thought sweet I can get some work done. Got back to the truck and realized I left my gun. It was over an hour walk across 8 ridges away :(

I did that once when I first started turkey hunting, leaned my gun against the tree while I put out my decoys, turned around and I couldn't see it, couldn't find it. Finally I thought about it I had paced off 25 steps to put the decoys out. All I had to do was walk 25 steps back and found it. Ever since then I am careful about where I leave my gun, and anything else for that matter.

You can get flavored ones at any large truck stop in case you get hungry in the woods. Or so I have been told.
