A Few Days with Brent at Gobblers Lodge

Post by Shooter »

Brent M invited me to go to Gobblers Lodge with him last saturday for a few days for one last hoorah of turkey huntin. With everything that has happened with me lately, I figured now would be as good a time as any to get away and get things off my mind.
The property was some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen, and Tonia and Yancy's hospitality was second to none! They busted thier butts to get us on turkeys, but the weather just previous to our arrival had the birds tight lipped and scattered bigtime. Brent and I finally put 2 and 2 together, and finally scored with Brents bird on tuesday, and mine on wednesday.
BTW Tonia, can you please post Brent's pic, cause I don't have a pic on my camera,... thought I did.
We even got a little fishing in, and I caught my first ever Pickerel. If we didn't have those dadgum flooding rains, I feel we would have really got on some birds.
At any rate, we had a great time, and I will never forget this trip any time soon,...lol.

Take care everyone, and I hope you enjoy a few pics Lily took, Tommy

The generosity and companionship of friends, especially after the loss of a dad, can be the best tonic in the world. A buddy took me on a Rio trip a month after I lost my dad and it did wonders for me. Gil

A Few Days with Brent at Gobblers Lodge

Post by BrentM »

We had such a great time up there I hated for it to be over. That was my first trip into the northeast but New York had always been on my bucket list as a place to turkey hunt.
I couldn't believe how many deer were on the place it was the most I've seen anywhere east of the Mississippi. I think Tonia is gonna try to do some deer hunts and I'm tempted to go back.
The lake in front of the house was great. I had never seen a chain pickerel and I don't think they had ever seen a watermelon seed senko cause they would try to eat it about as fast as it would hit the water LOL. There were a few largemouth there too

I had a blast hunting those mountain birds I wish we had gotten to stay a couple more days because honestly by the time we started getting things figured out it was time to go home.
Once again the best part about any of these trips is the fellowship and I can't begin to tell you how good Tonia and Yancy treated us. Tonia is a great cook and we ate good the whole time we were there. Thanks so much shooter for going with me.
I guess this has probably been the best turkey season I've ever had and I never thought back in march that I would end up a thousand miles from home a full month after my season had closed carrying out one more longbeard but I'm sure glad it worked out that way.
We had a good time I think this pic kinda sums it up lol
