28 ga. & .410 turkeys

Post by hawglips »

We lost the thread on small bore turkeys a while back when sections were consolidated, so figured we ought to start another one.

Let's see some pics of 28 ga and .410 turkeys.

Here's a couple taken with my CZ Woodcock 28 ga, 1-5/16 oz of TSS 9s.

Here's some .410 birds from last year, including two a buddy of mine shot:

All were shot with the TSS 9 loads.

I too regret the loss of that thread, so here are a couple of 28 ga birds from the last several years.

I'd love to hunt them with a 28 gauge but it's illegal here in the socialist state of Illinois. Everyone know a 28 gauge won't kill a turkey.. :violent1:

Here's another one I killed yesterday with the CZ 28 ga 1-5/16 oz of #9s, XFull barrell.

It was at 44 yards, and the bird never flopped, never flapped, never twitched. I'm falling in love with this little gun.

WM:
I in no way intend to "one up" my buddy Hal nor do I condone turkey sniping. But, the top picture in my post above was a turkey killed at 53 steps. No flop, no twitch! I did it on purpose and I will never look back! TSS is the real deal. Thx Hal!

Hunted Friday morning, never hearing a gobble till I finally coaxed one out at 11:30 a.m. He was dead at 11:40 when the 28 gauge spoke. It was real open in the thinned pines where I found him, so I went ahead and shot him at what turned out to be 40 long steps...
