First miss in 3 years

My streak has come too an end. Missed at 25yds this morning. I just hope a stray pellet didn't get him in the guts.

Consider it a warning shot.

That's why it's hunting and not killing. Looks like you been on the birds .

Don't mind missing at all as long as it's not a trend. For some reason my ff3 was about 8 inches high. Lucky I killed the others.

I consider a missed shot as proof of life--my life. If I am alive, I will miss a turkey every now and then. I have started carrying both of my single-shots in cheap ($25) plano cases with the egg crate foam when transporting them. I have often wondered what it does to the sights when riding on bumpy dirt roads...If I could see rifle sights in low light I would still use them. I can see blade or leaf, but not at the same time. Oh, I have had one proof of life experience this year already....

Yall are making me feel better. I wiffed on one Saturday morning at 35 yards. I checked the FastFire. Still dead on. First day jitters I suppose.

I've missed a couple over the years. It usually doesn't bother me too much because, by the time I get around to pulling the trigger, I've gotten what I value most out of the turkey hunt. A dead turkey is a minor part of why I hunt.
And now you get to hunt that one again.

I got the miss out of the way last year. Got in a rush and didn't let him step all the way out from behind a tree. It has only replayed 17,533 times in my mind since then too. Bet I don't rush the shot from here on for a time.

At least it is behind you now and you can start a new streak. Good luck the rest of the way.

Records will be broken .. and it hunts more, when it's yours :banghead:

Re-group and go git' em" .. and like you said, hopefully he'll be there another day to come out and play  & possibly, you will invite him to be with you for Thanksgiving dinner, but ON the table

Must be something in the weather. On Saturday I had one come in hard to my right so I switched hands and as he cleared a pine tree, 40 yards away, the FF3 red dot found his head and I squeezed only to see him fly away. He’s probably in Florida by now.
A southpaw I am not.

I posted a video on my YouTube page (Jim Ryser) of my terrible Osceola hunt just for those of u who hunt to be able to remember even seasoned hunters miss, misjudge, and succumb to self-imposed pressure. My video shows all three and the reason I did it is just to remind each other to remember our limits, be careful with turkey fever (a problem that has worsened over time!), and be grateful when it’s a clean miss. Nothing bums me out more than an injured animal.

Brave of y'all to admit it, and we all miss if we shoot at enough. I have certainly missed my share (I keep records of kills and misses). Anytime I'm feeling cocky, all I have to do is go back and look at the hit and miss columns. Although I will have to say, I miss a lot less now that I shoot an FF III. TSS is pretty unforgiving with a bead or even FO sights as my eyes get older.
