Don't Poke A Sleeping!

Post by guesswho »

I got bored this afternoon (imagine that) and was going through some old pictures. I had forgot about this incident. While slip-ass'n around a few years ago I walked up on this. I thought it was dead. I was looking for a long stick so I could poke it. I couldn't find a long stick, so I picked up a short one and tossed it on top of the critter. After doing so I kinda wished I hadn't done that. Their 40 time is much more impressive than I had anticipated

Haha

I ran into one in the dark going in for a bow hunt several years ago. Eyes went from ground level to above knee height then head height very quickly. I promptly left, in a hurry.

Great picture!

It would have been full of ass because that's all he would have been able to get ahold of.

Awesome picture. I live in bear country, only run into two turkey hunting.

First I worked a gob one morning failed. So after he left I look for a better setup for next morning. Bear **** everywhere and spots it rolled around. I go in next morning on edge, I hear trudging in swamp water he roosted over. Just as it broke to where you could see, bear got out of their backwards thinking I have 6s

2nd was a field hunt afternoon. Sal and I behind her sisters. Sal looks at me and goes is that what I think it is. I'm like yup and he's headed straight for us. She calls her sis says look out your back window, she dropped phone rounded up kids and dog.

About that time her neighbor was coming home saw it started honking to spook it, well yeah he spooked it alright, ran into woods 50 yards away.

I know they say more scared of you, don't wanna test. Two things scare me worse that I have encountered, bobcats and badgers. Swear every time I hunt kansas I've had bobcats at 5 feet. One I even had to throw sticks at 3 feet away. And he was so curious wouldn't leave.
