Spring is here in Arkansas!

Post by jhogue »

I went out scouting last weekend and found no gobbling birds. This morning I found one gobbling good on the limb. He gobbled 2-3 times once he hit the ground. About 30 minutes later, I found 1(maybe 2) more gobbling well on his own on the ground. Great start to scouting in an area I’ve never been to before. Even better note, I don’t think these birds could be heard from the road where they were.

70 plus inches of snow still here and it hasn't melted at all yet, the roads and even the main highway across the northern tier, highway #2 are like driving through a roofless tunnel, better get to melting soon so it can dry up a little or there won't be much of a spring turkey season here this year.

Gimme that cold. I used to work in Snowland while living in FL. Changed out of winter clothes into shorts and flip flops before boarding the plane home. I'll take the cold as long as I can get it.
