410 test
410 test
Ok I was playing around some. Threaded a 28 inch and shot it. Then cut it to 24 inch and threaded it. The 24 inch picked up 21 shot with 2 loads and 30 shot with one load. Just trying to get some feed back on the little devils. Is the powder yall run fast or slow burn.

Re: 410 test

Re: 410 test
I took possession of that gun (Yildiz single-shot) yesterday and no one is going to cut that barrel. I didn't load the shells he used, but I assume it's the same powder I use. In looking at a shotgun powder burn rate chart of about 150 powders, the powder is somewhere in the middle. I don't recognize any use of the powders slower than what I use in load, so for purposes of answering William, this is a slow burning powder. If this sounds vague, it is deliberately so. I'll get photos of the gun up after it's rigged. 144 in the 10 ring at 40 measured yards using #9 is pretty damn good from where I sit and hopefully brass hulls will up the count. Gil
Re: 410 test
Hoobilly I understand to a point why. I don't care who load or what load someone shoots. I may or may not care for the person/company but if load is good and safe so be it. That is why I never post much about load I have tested. I try to figure out what works best in set up. I have idea what it is. That is why I ask.

And William did a great job on this gun. It's a beaut. Gil

You should have been on phone with him when I said lets cut it. It was almost like I was talking to Mel Tillis No way I was going to say anything about 20 inches.

I ain't sayin' nothin', because I don't know nothin'.
I think what we need is a shortened 28 gauge shell, in a short 28 gauge gun, using .410 strength loads, going out a suppressor with a built in turkey choke. Make that suppressor titanium.

I like that curl. Pretty wood doesn't make them shoot any better, but it does add intangible value.
Re: 410 test
Dang Gil, that is some beautiful wood on that Yildiz popgun!!! Got to get mine to William, and get him to cut the barrel down to 24", and add a choke.
