New guy from Wisconsin

Post by Ridgeking »

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum, just registered this morning... Its been a bit since I've been on any forum whatsoever but recently deactivated my facebook page because I've finally had enough of everything facebook. I've been a spring turkey hunter for 25 or so years. I've hunted fall birds a few seasons but I'm not very knowledgeable about fall techniques. Hoping to change that and learn more here.
I'm not very tech savvy but if I ever figure out how to post pics I'll share a few.
Thanks for letting me join. I'm glad to have other addicts to hang around!

Regards,
Don

Welcome to Gobbler Nation. Enjoy your stay!
Where in Wi. are you from. I’m a little south of Waukesha.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I no longer have the 835. My 12 year old killed his first spring turkey with it and laid claim to it. I found a used Remington 11-87 special purpose turkey with a 21" bbl so now I need to find a good choke/load combo for it.

If your son shot a turkey with your Mossberg and then took ownership of it, you had better not let him near that 11-87!! You’ll be out of another gun and probably back to the a$$ kickin’ Mossy... :toothy7:

He won't be getting the Old school 11-87! I've wanted one of these since the '90s. I told him I need the gas gun cause I'm old and can't bear the butt woopins anymore... I also told him he wasn't strong enough to carry the duck decoys this fall and he'd better let me carry em til he got bigger and stronger.... What do ya know? I was wrong, the boy carried them decoys just fine. :D :D :D

I don't make the poor kid shoot 3.5" shells though LOL! He seems to get the job done with 2 3/4" shells.

Those 3 1/2”ers kick like a rented mule outta any non gas gun, but those Mossbergs seem to take it to the extreme. I shoot an Benelli SBE and it will knock the snot outta ya.
