I need to ax y'all a question

Post by Waddle Whacker »

Anybody on here ever thrown axes? I dove face first into traditional archery about 2 years ago. A new archery shop popped up across the road from my kids school, so I've been going to shoot my recurve there at least a couple times a week, since school started. I noticed they had an ax wall in the back corner, but never saw anyone throwing. I inquired the other day and had time to spare, so I asked the ax fella if he had time to teach me. I never imagined how much fun it would be. I had to shorten the hour long instructional to 30 minutes, but I caught on fast and actually stuck 6 in a row at one point. I had a blast. I would highly recommend it, if ya ever get a chance. Pretty dang cool, and I kinda felt like a bad ass😂

Closest I ever got to the axe, was when I was AXED :LMAO:

I've heard about it before, but that was all, until now  Go for it and good luck

Looks like fun. I'd like to try it. But I'm not allowed to play with sharp objects or drive anything that is fast. Bad things have happened in the past when I participated in either.

Tomahawk's are a blast to throw and I have competed in a many ah hawk and knife contests, I Rendezvoused for years and about every Rendezvous has a knife and hawk throw and about the only rules were your hawk's blade couldn't measure more than 4" across and when you threw your hawk had to make at least one complete revolution. Stick'n a hawk ain't too hard but learning to consistently stick a knife takes a little more time.

Think I just got called out. Knives it is, next time!😂 Honestly I think knives would be a lotta fun, too. I may inquire next time. I never imagined I would've had so much fun with it. I'm really looking forward to going back and throwing again.

For me the knife was alot harder to master (LOL...never did master it) but I found out seemed like the heavier the knife the easier it was to stick. I built one out of a sawmill blade and it was heavy, 1/4" thick and bout 16" long and weighed bout 4 pounds.

throwing tomahawks is a lot of fun, and the hand eye coordination of shooting traditional archery should help you pick it up quicker.
we have a target set up behind the barn and throw tomahawks in the evening, beats horseshoes.

At our monthly muzzleloader matches we usually throw for fun,
But if it's an official contest we keep score by tapping a peg into the ground after a point is scored.
at the end of the match whoever's peg went in the farthest has the honor of being the biggest ax-hole for the month.
