While I was deer waitin

Post by OLE RASPY »

Had a target of opportunity show up this morning. 2nd one off my farm this year. I’ll take them anytime. This male coyote sounded like a heard of elephants coming thru woods and it was just walking. You’d think they be more stealthier. Lol. .270 130 grain bullet is not fur friendly but idc.

I love stories with happy endings. Well done, Jerrod! Nice shot.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I had a large coyote come across a field and into the woods this morning at 7:20 while muzzleloader deer hunting . I hissed at him when he was about 40 yards away coming up the hill toward my treestand and put a 300 gr Hornady XTP between his shoulder blades. Big full coated male @45 lbs. While dragging the coyote out, I had a little 4-point walk to within 45 feet of me looking at me, and looking at the dead coyote at my feet. The buck walked 180 degrees around me, stopping about every 10 feet, glancing up and down at me and the coyote. The deer never flagged, blew or snorted and eased past me into the woods. It was one of the strangest encounters I've had in 52 years of deer hunting.

Raspy,
I'm 66 years young with a flip phone. When I got home and told the tale to my wife. she said, "Why didn't you take a picture with your flip-phone?" Easy answer,"I don't know how or care to learn." Actually, I do know how, but if she knows, I'll be harassed to take pictures with my phone and I've got a good DSLR camera which wasn't on the trip.
