Youth Opener '17

Post by ccleroy »

What a morning, both my boys have had the flu and it has sucked, my youngest said he was still game for this am, even though I was hesitant. I made the accommodations to make him as comfortable as I could this am enough to weather it as long as he could stand. He got the whole show, plenty of gobbling, hens raising sand and this bird strutting/drumming all the way to the decoys. I'm certain I was in worst shape watching the bird come in than my son was. It's truly an amazing feeling sharing something you love so much with your kids and see that same love coming together. Congrats to all the youths today and a huge pat on the back to the adults that took the time to get those kids in the woods! Spring is here!

Sweet!! Congrats to you both. Now that young man has the makings of a turkey hunter. He got out and killed a beautiful bird even with the flu, and the flu sucks. Congrats on a nice bird and I hope the boys both feel better soon. :struttin:

Tell him great job and nice bird. Awesome that he still wanted to head out even though he was under the weather. That is more than most adults would do. Its awesome when parents take the time to get their kids out in the woods. Great job guys!

Man that is so awesome! Congrats to both! My son shot a jake with my persuasion.....1st jake I've ever seen with an almost perfectly full fan. Fooled me! I thought it was a mature bird w beard rot or something.......until I got my hands on it. U guys experienced anything like tat before? I find it to be very rare in my experience. It prob just happened because the day b4 I opened my big mouth and told a buddy that I wouldn't let him shoot a jake. Man it's hard to get my size 12 LaCrosse all the way in my mouth!!!!

Oh well! My boy and our host we're extremely excited. I was the only one slightly disappointed. After all, a seven yr old with a harvested tom can't be wrong

Nice job Ricky. And my hat is off to the young man for sucking it up, I know many a grown man that wouldn't have done that.
