Yeah, that's a picture from someone else I lifted off another site. Should have labeled it as such.

But hey, the doc said he may let me take the boot off in 3 weeks, and I was looking at the calendar - that would be a week before the VA winter season ends.... ;) A guy can hope...

This is the furthest .410 bird (9-1/2s 13/16 oz recipe) I'm aware of - 52 measured yards.

Hal, what gun and what are the 10" numbers on the 52 yarder? Wow! So far, the farthest for me is 36 yards with 'Lil Yildie. Gil

Dang...all this time, with all these hunts you get to go on, and all these birds you kill...and the whole time I coulda been saying.......That's great and all Hart, but I've killed one with a 28 and you haven't. :struttin:
Now I got nothing :( ......except jealousy.....which I already had before
Congrats sir! Love that 28! Good luck with it the rest of the season!

If I complete my 28ga Grand Slam, get an eastern with a bow and a Merriam's with a .410, I'll have grand slams with the 12ga, 20ga, 10ga, 16ga, .410, 28ga, bow and muzzleloader. I guess next spring I'll try for crossbow and then try to get someone to petition the state of Florida to let me shoot one with a pellet gun! LOL

What is the best shooting .410 a man can get his hands on?!?

I hear that the Yildez is some of the better shooting .410's and a good price?

What kind of numbers should I be looking for in the 10" and 20" with 13/16oz load of 9's with a good shooting gun

Mine initially shot 100/100 with 10 ranging from 90 to 110 if memory serves. More than adequate. Another I had would only shoot 70 in the 10. I never bothered to count the 10-20. I had Sumtoy sleeve a choke into it. It's a 130/100 or so gun now. Mine was threaded for a choke by Mike Orlen and a choke made by Sumtoy. It's 159 in the 10. I didn't count 10-20 as part of the 10-20 was off the paper. Keep yours under 40 in the field and you'll do fine.

870's and Mossy 500's in .410 are also very good. The Savage 220B is another good single-shot, but no longer made. Stevens singles and O/U, CZ, H&R singles, Yildiz O/U's have their following as well. Can't say which is the best because even among the same model there can be a variance of poor to great, but all can be improved with screw-ins. The CZ is over $500 but under $900. The other guns cost from $100 to $500. I bet Browning and Beretta are great, but they are in different price points.

My good buddy Pete Simmons got this bird yesterday in SC with his 870 .410 at a whopping 47 yards! Longest .410 shot I recall.

I got 151 in the 10" with my 870 .410.

Nice rope, Chris. Different noise, recoil with the pea shooter, but it works fine. Gil
