Possible New TN Record
Just found out about this Deer today. I was really excited about it when I heard it was taken fairly close to the house, but not so close as to it being one of the Big 5 on our farm from last year.
It was on the joining farm of a very good friend of mine though bout 15 miles away. Nicest Deer I've seen in a long time.
Like I said, I was all pumped up about it, until I heard the story behind it. Then I wanted to puke! Same kind of crap goes on right here on our farm.
Two very close friends of mine have been watching this guy for several years, and have him on Game Cam many times.
They hunted very hard for him since the season opened in late September, but no shot so far.
Then these two young boys got permission on a neighboring farm. One had a borrowed gun, the other had just bought a gun at a local pawn shop. Never fired it even, to check it out or anything.
They sat down for a little while when a 3 point stepped out, and the first boy shot it. They get up and start walking toward it when the big one jumps out and runs. They shot at it multiple times, before the one with the new gun hit it. They took it to the check station without even looking to see where it was hit. Once there, and a few people started saying how big it was, they didn't even know what they had.
Also, I was told that was the first time they had ever been there.
My Bud's are pretty disheartened by it, just from the amount of time they put in, in the last few years, but,..... Oh Well.
Congrats to the young Lad just the same. He pulled it off, even if it wasn't pretty.
I was first told it scored 190, but more reliable source said it was exactly 180"

That is a giant. Congrats to him.
Same stuff happens here to. Hunt hard after a buck and come find out someone killed it sittin on a rock smelling like a goat, first time in the woods or anythang like that. But they the ones that killed it. What can ya do. NOTHING BUT BE HAPPY.

First I heard 184", but I read 186" tonight on the TN Deer registry.pedro wrote:Nice deer for sure. What is the record there?
Pretty sure it has to go through a drying time before they can get the final score.
Just have to wait and see.

that's a monster buck. At least it wasn't spotlighted. I hunted a mid 150s buck all season till he was spotlighted in late November.

Re: Possible New TN Record
That's deer hunting. More luck than skill.
Guess that's why I feel really good turkey
Hunters could also take great bucks, given
The right areas to hunt.
Unfortunately it costs lots of money in my
Part of the world to hunt those areas.

That does suck that the fellers hunting it didnt get it. I guess it sucks less that a youngster who killed it wasnt a jerk off that poached it.
What a nice buck..i would still be shakin lol

Heck of a buck and it sounds like a story I hear every time a giant is killed in my area. I think we all should just fumble around without a plan. Seems to be productive! But...as stated, at least he didn't die with a light in his eyes.

That's awesome! MS is producing some good bucks this year as well. I know of at least 5 200"+ deer killed here so far this year, and several large typicals (all confirmed). I just wish one would show up in my shooting lane!
