Any Bass Fishermen out there?

Post by Swampghost »

Or do you consider them a trash fish? I see lots of trout threads but none about bass fishing.

Love smallmouth and stripers (if you consider them bass), could care less if I ever catch another largemouth.

Any Bass Fishermen out there?

I love it when I have the time. Went for the first time this year with my dad and we caught 15 of these on top water in grass. They sure get the heart rate up.

I'd be willing to bet that every person on here has had a pic took of some bass that they have caught in their life.
Used to do the FLW tours, in the BFL division. Glad I grew out of that!!! Too much wasted money and time.
Here are a few good tourney fish that we won with years ago. Got a pic of my Pop's 9 lb Smallie somewhere if I can find it.
This one here was only 6.

Largemouth Bass is by no means a "Trash Fish"!!!
Lol! But if we had small mouth or trout I might feel
Differently!!!

Funny thing with fish names. Stripers are a true bass, as is the white perch, and smallmouth bass and largemouth bass are panfish.

Fishing for largemouth bass at night with surface plugs is tremendous fun. Dang that can get your heart thumping. No warning and then POW! Pound for pound smallmouth are one of the strongest fighting freshwater fish I've encountered.

Shooter, a 9 lb smallie? Wow, I had no idea they could get that big. A 5 lb smallie was considered huge up north where I grew up. Would love to see that picture.

We have smallmouth, largemouth and trout locally.

But it is the salt water striped bass that calls my name.

Went looking for a 50 pounder on my 50th birthday a few year ago. Came close with this 39 pounda'

Nice brown. Looks like a Loch Leven Brown.

Living in the Rockies it is trout fishing for me too. This is a tributary to the Rio Grande in southern Colorado.

I guess I'm gonna have to start taking a few pictures now. I have a few but they are all old and taken with a 35 mm camera.

I do a lot of bass fishing. Joined a small local bass club and we have a tournament each month. Don't fish for money mostly though. We keep track of the weights through the year and each year; every club sends the highest ranking anglers to a big tournament on Toledo Bend. I think I've made it 16 times in the last 20 years, 3 times in 2 clubs simultaneously. I think most of these were fishing from the back of the boat behind someone else each time.
I quit chasing a coonhound to start fishing. now, the fishing has to wait from middle of March to middle of April!

I wish I had scenery like that to fish! I would rather fish for trout or crappie. I finally went bass fishing last night for the first time this year and caught a 6lb large mouth which is pretty common in my ponds. I can usually get at least one if not more in the 5-8lb range any time i go.

Every time I take my wife out hunting, fishing, shooting or whatever she always has the best luck (guess it could be skill, shhh) and wonders why I think it is so difficult...She doesn't get to go too often so it just works out that way I guess. Please tell me that you caught one that was 12-03? LOL

We called those sheepshead on Lake Champlain. A lot better eating than many people realize.
