Fall turkey harvest
Well birds played right this morning. Pitched down and came in range and I took the one that presented the best shot for the crossbow. It was not the biggest (18.5lb 11.5" beard 1" spurs) bird of the group but am happy to harvest one that will be ate for dinner tonight. It was a nice calm morning and the birds were very vocal hens kee keeing around me and yelping and gobblers letting out a few yelps. There is something special about fall hunting in my eyes. The calls they make this time of year and calls you have to make to bring them in.

Re: Fall turkey harvest
Well new update to the fall harvesting. On 9/26 a 140 class mainframe 8 walked way to close while I was playing with some turkeys that were on the other side of the creek. It was too hard for me too pass up the 15yd shot while sitting on the ground so he took a dirt nap. He messed up the turkeys on the other side of creek and ran right to them and done a somersault. That made the turkeys fly up to the trees and some flew a ways off even. I left the birds alone till 9/28 and went back and had 4 nice long beards called up and an easy 17yd shot presented itself. I'm not much of a doe shooter and thats the only tag I have left for the crossbow. So now i'm basically tagged out with crossbow. The good thing is fall turkey shotgun season opens tomorrow.
