I have no idea what a ruptured Achilles entails but something tells me I'll see some dead turkey pics with Hal in them next spring.

Good luck with the healing Hal.

That's why I have no stops on my "peeping Tom" route that requires a ladder.

No, I made the bad decision to play in our church's annual Turkey Bowl football game. We were getting shellacked but I had us driving and about to score. Dodged a rusher and it popped. The pop was so loud I expected to see my foot hanging . We had an ER doc playing with us and he diagnosed it right off. The ER put on the splint and we will see what the ortho says when I see them.

I'm real worried about my spring plans for high altitude birds...

Dang Hawg, I hate to hear that!! I feel your pain,...trust me.
I don't know much about how well that particular tendon works or heals, but I'm a knee and elbow expert now!!
I take it they surgically re-attached it. Hope they gave you plenty of Hydrocodone, or oxycodone.
Problem you're gonna have is the leg is gonna be immobilized for quite some time while it heals. I just hope you have your mobility back after it heals.
Hang in there Buddy, and we will pray for a speedy recovery. :angel4:

Tommy, I won't see the ortho doc till Monday. So won't know the treatment plans till then. The ER Doctor said surgical reattachment but all he did was look at it and check by touch.

I'm real nervous about this spring...

Hal,

Sorry for the bad luck. Someone always gets hurt at the turkey bowl every year, about 5 years ago, it was my turn, I cracked some ribs, luckily I was able to fire some light duck loads only about 3 weeks later and keep hunting waterfowl, but those first few hunts hurt like crazy. I'm sure you will still be able to hunt spring, but you will probably have to limit how much you hike and stay away from steep slopes.
