I go deer hunting about once every five years just to remind myself why I quit. I shot my bow yesterday afternoon for the first time in about 4 years. I told myself if I hit the silver dollar size bullseye at 25 the first shot then I'm going hunting in the morning. First shot nailed it! I thought that's just luck and don't count so I said if I hit it with my second shot I'm going hunting in the morning. Nailed it. Then I thought well if I hit 3 out of 4 I'm going hunting in the morning. 3rd shot nailed it. So I figured something was telling me to go this morning.

I went and now I remember why I quit, you might kill one and they're harder to get out of the woods than a turkey . So now I'm good for another 5 years. I may take up squirrel hunting. Plenty of them and easy to carry out and clean.

I’ve been seeing some nice fox squirrels recently and it makes me think about squirrel hunting when I was a kid

I can't stand it. A lot of people deer hunt turkeys. I turkey hunt deer when I do hunt. I killed him from the ground at 17 yards. Then thought why did you do that!

Nice deer. I wish deer hunters would keep deer hunting and leave us turkey hunters to do our thing.

Awfully nice of you to put it out of its misery. It must have been awful trying to get around in the woods with all that stuff on top of its head.

Congrats Ronnie! that's a pretty buck. But I hear ya about that getting them outta the woods thing....5-6 squirrels about my personal drag or carry limit these days it seems. LOL! Ya'll got some STRONG genetics down that way, in the woods, the family....

Nice buck, Ronnie but he ain't big enough to last 5 years. 1 maybe but not 5.

He stands a good chance out there. My place is in what you would call Slapout. People that have been out there can't believe how secluded it is. I'm lucky to own a small tract surrounded by 3 landowners. One has 4500, one 3500 and then a Timber Company that has about 10,000. Very little hunting pressure, or even people pressure. Don't see many folks out there. I bet I haven't seen a half dozen people since last January.
