I shot straight , the bird was just too far, lol.......I misjudged the distance. First morning in an area, ran to the gobble, called him in with my natural voice, he came in strutting, gobbling with the whitest head ever and I wiffed..thought it was 40 yds. it was more like 70...shooting uphill across the creek, didn't look that far but when I went to look for the bird I realized my mistake. I hunted him every day, had him patterned but I also had other hunters and the last morning I just didn't have it in me to walk the 4 miles through the mountains on 2.5hrs of sleep and still be back to check out of the hotel by 10, so I let him live and I slept. It was an amazing trip and I hunted hard...so hard. I am proud of myself regardless. I had more action this past week than this whole season at home.. I conquered mountains. I'll post my adventures in a few days. Sorry to let y'all down but it wasn't because I wasn't out there trying. I hunted 20 something days this year.
