Gobbler, jake diaphragms
Gobbler, jake diaphragms
Is there a small volume maker who does mouth calls tuned to sound like male birds?

I do better with thicker multiple reed raspy calls. But I usually just use a pot call for gobbler yelps and clucks. Listen to recordings of real gobblers/Jakes. Cadence is key.

You won't get the croaks and chirps right without a call tuned for it. You can get in the general area, but when you're trying to match a bird or sound like one he knows, you need a properly tuned caller.

Same here. I get the right sound running the middle of a purr pot.guesswho wrote:I do better with thicker multiple reed raspy calls. But I usually just use a pot call for gobbler yelps and clucks. Listen to recordings of real gobblers/Jakes. Cadence is key.

Re: Gobbler, jake diaphragms
i agree with Ronnie, for gobbler yelping i like a plain glass call.
gotta love turkey huntin!!!
Re: Gobbler, jake diaphragms
I've stretched a few diaphragms for tommish yelping. A little heavier top reed, and a bit less stretch.
I just came to squeeze the wattles.
Re: Gobbler, jake diaphragms
I sound better doing gobbler yelps on box call. It's just more deeper and slower drawn out yelp. I can do it on a 3 reed mouth call to. The key is it's more slower, Hen yelp is faster. Just my 2 cents.

Looks like it is the new prodigy series of calls from calling all turkeys that is specifically designed for Jake and gobbler yelps.
