Push Pin Callers
Push Pin Callers
I have a couple vintage Ashby push pins
And got a Winky Hicks last season.
There is something about the simplicity
Of a good sounding push pin....
I love 'em!
So with price not a handicap, i really want
A nice hunting call for my 11 year old daughter.
Shannon on Old Gobbler seems to have a
Following and his calls are nice.
Any others to consider?
I Called this bird in on Easter Sunday for my daughter
With My Ashby.

Will do when I get home. I really don't know that much either... they may be good, may be bad, really hard to play it in the package. Maybe someone can chime in. It's okay if you tell us they suck, haha!K9Doc wrote:Dont know anything about Camp calls.

Re: Push Pin Callers
Called in my first gobbler using a K & H push pin. Somewhere I have one made out or cedar that a friend gave me. No idea who made though.
Put you plans in the nail scarred hands.

I like the concept of Quaker Boy's Trigger Finger call where you don't have to worry about bumping the pin when it's in your vest.

I recently purchased this one from Shannon on Old Gobbler. It's a real sweet sounding call and the cluck and purrs are real turkey. I plan on carrying it with me this season.

Re: Push Pin Callers
Thanks guys. It sounds awesome, never knew a push pin could sound so good.
I haven't been on the other turkey forum much, not like I use to. When it first started I was there and loved it.
I just found this forum the other day. I did not know there where problems from the other forum, but I did notice a lot of the original guys from the beginning weren't there. That's sad, I hate that.
Thanks for letting me join in with you guys and gals.

Re: Push Pin Callers
I have a Winky Hicks push-pin from 1996 and signed by him--THE SWEET WILD HEN. I will take it out this Spring for sure again. I bought my 2nd push-pin yesterday at a Spring Fishing show in Walden, NY It is the David Hale--ULTIMATE PUSH-PULL. I really like that new sound!! I am right now reading Harold Knight's and David Hale's-- ULTIMATE TURKEY HUNTING and came on the section where David Hale talks about push-pull boxes. There was only 2 left so I bought it.
Re: Push Pin Callers
I've heard turkeys that sound just like the Camp Caller my wife has. The rubber band design makes it fairly quiet to carry vs some others.
Story: I was selling one. Fella asked to hear it over the phone. I think this is odd because I can't tell much over the phone. People do it, though, I know. Long story short the whole point of the exercise was for him to make a big deal about how it didn't sound as good as the-best-push-pin-ever-made he had from that Shannon fella down in FL. I imagine he spends his evenings calling people with push pins for sale and repeating the spiel.

That Shannon call s beautiful. Id like to buy one. Did you know that Gobbler Nation is a swear word on their site? Why is it that Turkey hunters can't get along. I know Shannon is on this site under a fake identity. I think he goes by Camoman.
