Rack Em Up, Boys
Another project, a rack display board, completed.
When I 1st moved in, this board was in the old garage. I had/have no idea what it was used for.
I thought maybe a basketball backboard but there were no holes for which to mount a rim.
Anyway, for whatever reason, I decided to keep it.
I have a lot of racks stacked up on top of my fridge as well as a few in the garage. Years ago,
a friend in WV, mounted his racks on a piece of plywood & hung it in his garage. I decided to
do the same with mine by using the “backboard.”
I started the project on 03/28/2019 by attaching 4 pieces of 2”x4” on the backside to keep the
bolts used to mount the racks away from the wall. The top & bottom 2”x4” were attached with
4 8x11/2” screws & the 2 end pieces by 6 screws. I used 2 ¼”x 3 ¾” lag eye screws to hold the
hanging wire which is ¼” power cable from my old barn. I used U-clamps to hold the wire together.
The next step was done on 04/03-04/04/2019 when I cleaned the backboard & then painted it a
dark brown.
For various reasons, the project was put on hold but, due to the Covid-19 quarantine, I have restarted
working on the rack board. I got all the holes drilled in the skull caps & the 2 skulls, on 04/08/2020.
The next day, I boiled 3 of the skull caps that still had hair on them & got them cleaned up.
I started mounting the racks on 04/10/2020 & finished on 04/11/2020. I used 2 5/16” carriage bolts to
attach the racks to the board. I used my hand-held grinder to cut off the bolts that were too long but
the wheel broke & I had to finish with a hacksaw which was a big PIA.
I have been thinking about painting the skull caps white but leaving the full skulls natural. What do all
ya’ll think, white or natural?

Looks good Jorge. I’d tell everybody that sides for bucks and the other side is for does.

Thx Ronaldo. I have killed a bunch of does but didn't save anything from them so the other side will
remain empty.

Re: Rack Em Up, Boys
Don't know if you'd want, but you could varnish all the horns and skulls so they would be even in color, but then, like you said , you're thinking natural!!
Ya' still have room for a few "Bullwinkles" on there

Looks very good. I think I would stick with the natural.

Thx all y'all. Now all I have to do is get the new building built so I can hang it.
I'm holding off a little until all this nonsense settles down.
