SLOW-COOKED LEMON GARLIC WILD TURKEY

Post by HunterGKS »

I like wild turkey, I like lemon, & I like garlic. I thought it would be a good combination with a few other ingredients. I did find that I needed to increase the ingredients due to the size of the turkey breast. You may need to adjust accordingly. I also turned the breast every 2 hours.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
2 pounds skinless, boneless wild turkey breast
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. water (I used chicken broth)
3 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, minced (I used 3 teaspoons of minced garlic)
1 tsp. chicken bouillon granules
1 tsp. chopped fresh parsley (I used dried parsley)

DIRECTIONS

1. In a bowl, mix the oregano, salt, and pepper.
2. Rub the mixture into wild turkey.
3. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
4. Brown wild turkey in butter for 3 to 5 minutes on each side.
5. Place wild turkey in a slow cooker.
6. In the same skillet, mix the water, lemon juice, garlic, and bouillon.
7. Bring the mixture to boil.
8. Pour over the wild turkey in the slow cooker.
9. Cover, and cook on high for 3 hours, or low for 6 hours. (I prefer slow & low)
10. Add the parsley to the slow cooker 15 to 30 minutes before the end of the cook time.

The ingredients.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that

I'm usually pretty skeptical of turkey recipes that don't involve hot grease, but I'm going to have to give that a try. Looks FINE!

Thx all. I would be very surprised if all y'all didn't like it. I do recommend the longer cooking time on low. That, along with the lemon, help to make the meat more tender.
