Nice pics. I've always enjoyed fly fishing, but haven't done it pretty much since I've been married.

Too many other hobbies that take higher priority. And having a young family too!!! :D

Olympus Stylus 720 waterproof camera. Rookie photographer. Used three settings. "Super macro" for bugs at 6-8", "macro" for fish at 18-24" and "auto" for everything else. A photo shop program to crop the pics and tweak color a bit on a few. Well known East TN tailwater. 7 years fishing the river and finally feel I have a handle on it. The first trip was humbling for a guy used to fishing heavy hackled flies in pocket water on the freestone streams of SC and western NC. It's technical demanding long leaders and tippets, small realistic flies and fishing finesse. And the payoff is 20"+ fish on tiny dry flies once in a while.

Spinner fishing it would be like using 80 yard shots, decoys and blinds for turkeys.

Very Nice.. I really enjoy being on the stream.

I have only fly fished once, I went with some friends whom are into it, handed some expensive Scott Rod a half hour before dark.. It was cool listening to the trout come up around me, but I was defenseless with that fly rod, only thing I managed to catch was my shirt about 20 times.. We were on the Holy Waters of the Ausable.. I could not believe how many people come there for the hex hatch, there was a truck every 50 feet and from every state..

I would love to try it behind my house..Native Brookies in the 16-17 inch range are not uncommon and I have seen a few taken around 19.. We get a heckuva gray drake and hex hatch..

You Sir, are missing out. It's much similar to turkey hunting. Hours spent preparing equipment, building leaders and tying flies. Creating and morphing patterns to match (and function) the insects that are expected to be keyed on. The challenge of finding good fish and then presenting your offering to them. Then the slow rise, the hook set and a screaming reel. That's where it's at for me. Fooling them. If you ever decide to pick up the habit you let me know. I'll fix you up with some flies to try.
