20ga Mossberg Choketube question
20ga Mossberg Choketube question
I aquired a Mossberg 500 20ga last year. I'm wanting to shoot the Federal Heavyweight #7's out of it this year. I want to get a good choke tube for it. I'm thinking about getting the Trulock Federal #7 choke for it or maybe one from sumtoy. Anybody have any experience with Mossbergs or either of those chokes in a Mossberg? I want it to be a 30-40 yard gun if possible. Open to any other choke tubes that will shoot good out of a Mossberg 20ga.
Re: 20ga Mossberg Choketube question
Truglo ssx.
Re: 20ga Mossberg Choketube question
Are all the Truglo ssx tubes ported? Are the Federal Heavys made to shoot tru a ported tube?
Re: 20ga Mossberg Choketube question
I know what Fed says about ported chokes but I get very good patterns out of my super bantam with a Indian Creek 555 and Fed HW 7's. Averages in the 170's at 40.
I haven't tried either of the chokes you asked about though.

They are but I get 140s in my super bantam and ssx.
Re: 20ga Mossberg Choketube question
Carlson non ported .575, it doesn't get much better and you'll save some $$$.
Re: 20ga Mossberg Choketube question
I shoot a sumtoy in mine and it shoots very well with the heavyweights. I think its a 562-5.

I put an HS Under Taker non ported .575 in my youth 500 and it does 140 at 40 with those shells. It's cheap if you're looking to save. There's more options if you want higher counts.
