what do I do?
I have a M2 20ga Benelli witha slug barrel. Wanting to buy a barrel and have found 2. a 26" for $485, and or a 24" for $399
do save $85 and buy the 24", or do you Benelli 20ga shooters think that it would be money well spent to buy the 2" longer barrel?
I have had several longer barreled turkey guns in 20 and they didnt seem to shoot any better than the 24" guns I own.
whats your opinion?

Re: what do I do?
I'd go with the 24 and put the $85 towards a good choke.
Put you plans in the nail scarred hands.
Re: what do I do?
I would go for the 26.

I prefer 26, but for $85 I'd be tempted to go with the 24.

Like Wes, I'd prefer the 26, but you would be just fine with the 24.
I would probably save a bit of money and go with a more compact gun. Not sure I can get too small a gun for turkeys. Love them small and light.

we have a winner!Grover wrote:Buy the 26" and cut the end off it.
I bet there are people in this world who has done that before..
I think the 24" will save me money, but I still dont know. arghhh
Re: what do I do?
Can't speak for the 26" but if it helps I bought a 24" m2 this year and it will run Federal Hw 7 in the 170's with a Sumtoy and 200+ with nitro Mega weight with a 575 Indian creek. I wouldn't take a dozen 26's for my 24"
Re: what do I do?
I'd go 24 in that situation. Even the shorter bbl 20s post up nice patterns.
We get into these bbl preference debates quite a bit and all I can say from experience in patterning many diff turkey guns is that many times a shorter bbl can beat many longer bbls. It boils down to bbl condition and the choke and load chosen. Yes, if you have two bbls of different lengths and both are A+ in every quality, the longer will win. Many times the differences can go either way and can't be seen by your eye, so the shorter may out pattern the longer with the best of the best in both. Buying bbls is always a gamble so to speak. You may buy 6 of the same and get 6 diff results.

Re: what do I do?
I know MKWs 20 gauge Benelli's are 24 inch tubes and they have always patterned very well.
Re: what do I do?
There was one guy who always argued the longer the better to the point of disgust for himself. I think he left cause of it. We have proven time and time again, shorter barrels will do just as well as longer as long as you pattern it to get proper patterns. Get the shorter barrel, pattern it and get quality patterns. Then go shoot turkeys.

Re: what do I do?
C'mon guys I am trying to get a 24" barrel out of this on trade, lol. My M2 shoots great with the 26" barrel and I love the gun, but if I were you I would get the 24" for sure.

Re: what do I do?
Trade the Benelli outfor a Maxus. Don't buy either barrel.

Sloppy, once you shoot a Nelli while duck hunting, you will understand why I like them.

If you drink some beer and smoke some weed you won't care what barrel you got.
