dipping a gun with decals

Post by Tidewater Tom »

I'm getting ready to dip my own gun. I was thinking of putting some vinyl decal turkey tracks on the gun before I dip it, as the base primer would likely be tan and the camo pattern is pretty dark. Once I dip the gun and it is dry, I'd peel off the decals and then spray on my clear coat. I see some pictures of guns that look like they did this but I'm not sure. Does anyone have an opinion whether that would work or not?

I aint sure that would work once the dip is dry, then how would you get the decals off without cracking tearing the dip?

maybe have to cut the decal edge and then peel?
Don't start none, won't be none!

Been thinking about that. May have to take an exacto knife and run the edge of the decal. May be more trouble than it's worth...
