Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
I’ll try and get pictures of my scope and setup sometime tomorrow. Got the Burris Droptine 4.5-14x42 with mildot basically dialed in today
After finding out the powder I originally started with was bad due to moisture creeping in before I purchased it, I was given info on just using Vihatourhi N110 powder safely.
I believe this load will shoot better than I am able to shoot it.
Wanting to be close to dead on at 200 I dialed it in when I was a inch low and decided to shoot it at 100 to see how high it would be. Aiming at center it shot 4” high.
Now I am trying to decide how I want to set this gun up. Dead on at 100 and use the mildots for the 2-300!yards? Or be basically a inch low at 200 and 4” high at 200 and go shoot for 300 and see where it’s at? Never used mildots much and don’t want to make it confusing for deer.

Re: Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
Why not 3 inches high at 100. 3 inches low at 200. Should be dead on at 150.
Put you plans in the nail scarred hands.

Re: Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
That’s possible. Mostly depends on how it shoots at 300 with the scope
Re: Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
Mine's 3 " at 100 -3/4" at 200 and 16" low at 300 That's a 250 grain bullet at 2700 fps

we would've checked fps but the breeze we had kept reading on the chrono so maybe one day this coming week I will find out how fast or slow it is.

I too shoot the Encore smokeless with N110. I like the Burris Ballistic Plex with my barrel. You can adjust the power ring to fit the drop you desire at 300yds. Just zero at 100 and then using a tall piece of cardboard at 300 with the target dot at the top of the cardboard shoot with the crosshair on the dot. Where the bullet hits the cardboard is your 300 yd zero on your particular scope. Changing the power will move the mil-dots up and down. You then can figure out the rest of the distances.

PS I killed a pretty nice one at 293 yards this fall in Va.

Re: Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
congrats on a long range whitetail! I wish this scope was first focal plane! that way I could move the power setting and the crosshairs wouldn't mess up for being dead on where I would like themyoungoutdoors wrote: ↑December 15th, 2019, 10:51 pm I too shoot the Encore smokeless with N110. Re: Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
I guess I should have said the image will move up and down the reticle. My scope is second focal plane too. I just use it on the power that matches my drop at 100-300 yds. IF i am in the woods I simply crank the power down since shots will likely be less than my 100 yd zero.hoobilly wrote: ↑December 15th, 2019, 11:06 pmcongrats on a long range whitetail! Re: Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
Has any of you shot N120 ?
This looks about perfect for me. I really want 2600fps or faster to minimize drop out to 300

Bergara barrel with a Savage breach plug 209
Re: Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
N120 is exactly what you want... start at 60grs. What bullet are you using? I’ve never heard of or experienced N120 being temp sensitive. I have a Apex conversion with a Leupold vx3 cds 4-14x40 dial and shoot. Shoots MOA at 300yds.

our muzzleloader season is almost over here in Indiana. once its out I will be buying the N120 to try
I also am working on a special gas seal that works with certain bullets. Hoping to have them in a month and start testing them

Re: Encore Smokless Muzzleloader
What weight bullet are you wanting to shoot hoobilly? I am guessing everyone knows the lighter the bullet the more powder. IF you are using a heavier bullet I would start loads quite a bit lighter than 60 grains with the N120. I have never tried N120 but have reloaded alot of ammo over the years. The Encore barrels are not as stout as one with a reciever around the barrel.
