Red Dot Sight Reference Pictures

Post by ccleroy »

Was in the shop playing around today and took these pictures of my M2 20 and 3 different variations of mounts. First is a 336 mount, second is the Sumtoy and the final one is a standard picatininy. Thought this may help anyone debating on mounts depending on height.

Thanks Ricky!

Great way to show how they set.
I prefer the EGW as it’s solid as the 336 and yet hugs the receiver.

Thank you for posting that! Where would one find a 336 mount?

Thanks for posting. I see you went with the Vortex. How does it compare to the FF III ?

I can’t speak for ccleroy but I have owned both. Much rather have the FF2 or FF3

I had 2 Venoms shift the dot on 2 different guns

Any one have a picture of the EGW mount? Are they gun specific (the inside radius of the mount matches the top radius of the receiver)?

What advantages or disadvantages of lower mounting? Is lower always better?

Lower is best for me. I can shoot with cheek on stock. Not so with Picatinny without using a comb raising kit. Gil

I’ve wasted a bunch of shells chasing the dot on my Venom. I think I can say at this point that my FF3 is better. Never missed a turkey with the Venom, but I bite down on a lot of tungsten pellets that end up in the breast.

Ricky, can you take a couple measurements to let us know exactly how high they sit in comparison to one another, specifically the 336 vs Sumtoy. Like from the receiver to the bottom of where the optic starts? I have always believed the 336 is the lowest mounting option (and still do), but I don't believe the Sumtoy sits as high as it appears. I believe it looks to sit higher than it really does based off how the mount comes down over the receiver.

I’ll absolutely measure for everyone but I can tell you now the Sumtoy and 336 are so close to the same height it’s a non issue. I wouldn’t hesitate to use either, you’ll never notice the difference. Both are great mounts!
