Shell length
OK I've asked this question on several forums about a Franchi affinity 20 gauge that won't cycle the longer 3 inch shells several people have said to follow it up with a shorter shell my question is what is a good back up everything I have pattern well is a 3 inch I hunt woods so 99% of the time one shots all it takes but I would like to have reliable back up if I need it thanks

Re: Shell length
2 3/4” TSS is probably the second best shell after a 3” TSS.

Re: Shell length
I mostly use 2-3/4” in the 20 gauge with 1-7/16 ounces of TSS 9.5’s.
I can’t see why you couldn’t load a short load that you could get to pattern reasonably close to your 3” load.

Re: Shell length
How about a 3" shell in the chamber and a 2 3/4" in the magazine? The 2 3/4" is for back-up anyway. My Franchi doesn't like the 3" roll crimped shells at all either.

Re: Shell length
If buying, I’d shoot hoobilly’s Fox Trot Ammo 2-3/4” loads of TSS.
There’s nothing wrong with 20 gauge. I don’t understand why a couple 20 autos won’t cycle certain shells...

Re: Shell length
Yes, I’m not sure why some Franchi affinities cycle 3in shells, and some don’t. My affinity compact eats Federal TSS with no problems. My original plan if mine did not was to back up the first shell with the old 2 3/4 federal heavy weight 7’s if you can still find some. I believe Rogers still have some supply.
Re: Shell length
Go with hoobilly’s Foxtrotammo 3” 20ga loads they are folded crimps!!!
