.410 shooters.

Post by 10gaugemag »

You guys shooting .410s. Are you having screw in chokes installed in your guns or are you shooting the factory Full chokes??

If you are having the gun threaded who is doing your choke work?

If a factory screw in choke gun what chokes are you using?

Check with William at SumToy Customs. He has done a number of 410's.

I gave jebs a try. They did a great job threading my barrel but their choke was too tight (.381) for my setup (browning invector/ Winchester/ Mossberg threading). Pattern was blown. I’m giving compnchoke a try. They come highly recommended. So we will see.

I shot factory full for a few years and it averaged 100 in the 10 at 40. Sumtoy choked it and it improved patterns over 50%. Gil

I have had a couple barrels cut and choked by Mike Orlen. He is exceptional at what he does. Here is a link to his contact info. I am still shooting my factory full in my Yildiz single. With #9.5s, my patterns are good enough to take a turkey, will hunt it for a year or two before I decide if I want to choke it.

What kind of numbers at 40 did you get with the Jebs choke? Just curious.

Factory full - 10” 124 20” 129
Jebs x full - 10” 128 20 121
Dirty barrel wasn’t even worth counting

I figured you would have got better numbers than that with the Jebs. What constriction comp n choke are you going to try?

I have a .382" that I think is to tight also.

I ordered a hone, I am going to try and open it up a little bit myself.

I want to take it .001" at a time and see what happens with the pattern.

My plan is to work on keeping the parallel section straight. I am not sure what the hone is going to want to do. This is strictly experimentation. I am guessing it will follow the existing conture.

What exact tool are you using to open the choke up?
