TriStar has come out with their Viper G2 this year in 410, I have one in a 28 ga. and seems to be a purdy good gun for the money. The 410's should be out purdy soon and should be in the neighborhood of 500.00.

.410 repeaters tend to weigh as much as larger gauges. I would look at weight of gun and availability of choke.

The TriStar 410 weighs 5.7 lbs., my 28 ga. weighs 5.2. The 28 ga. takes Mibil chokes, not sure about the 410.

To start with I would get a Yildiz single shot .410. You can rig it out with a FF3 for what you will have in a semi auto. Then if you don't like the .410 for turkeys just take the FF3 off sell it, and move on!!! Great little guns at 3.3 lbs though!!!

Problem with the yildiz is that its a single shot and i believe in accuracy by volume (-:

I'm going to second 2shooter's recommendation with the caveat that a handful of owners of the gun have had Intermittent failure to fire due to what we believe is a weak hammer spring. I would shoot the hell out of it with factory loads to determine whether or not that is an issue with the gun before having it "turkeyrized" which would probably void warranty. At $129 it is worth taking the chance. As for second shot, that can be a valid consideration although thinking back over 40 seasons, I can't think of but less than a handful of times a second shot was needed or even possible to get off. There was someone here with an FFL that was willing to buy one where he lived and ship it to another FFL to comply with the law. Don't recall who that was...

24"

I see no reason to have a barrel shorter than 24" on a break-action shotgun. Might not make a difference from a ballistics point if it were shorter, but a 3" break-action is 3+" or more shorter overall than a 24" auto or pump. I don't see a hunting situation where a shorter barrel makes a difference of any significance. Also, the shorter the barrel the louder it is on the shooter's ears. Gil

I keep wanting to cut my yildiz to 21" so that when folded both the stock and barrel are even. Seems easier to stuff in a backpack or a golf bag, haha. Sending off to Sumtoy today though and think I'll stick with the 24" in hopes of maybe a few more pellets hitting home.

I guess I can no longer say there is no reason to cut it shorter. ;) Gil

I sent mine to Sumtoy and got it back this week. My buddy shot it for me while I was at work and I'll have to say, it put up a really even 120 in the 10" pattern, with a 195 or so in the 20" at 40 yards.

I have the Hatfield single shot from Wal Mart. It was $99 and my wife bought it for Christmas. If I knew how to post pics, I'd post the pattern.

When you go to post, click on attachments. The add file pops up. Click on that and click pictures. Add picture and let it download then you can Submit your post and picture will post. If your picture is taller than it is wide, it will oost sideways. But viewers can click on it and it will be right side up

The Hatfield has not hat alot of love. Only had two to fool with. I dont know much about them as to what they want. I know the Moss and the Yildiz seem to run about the same. Is that 9's

That's 10's.
I'm gonna play with different loads more, but I'm well satisfied with that pattern. Excellent work on the choke and mount.

Circle could be drawn to center of the the mass of shot to get more numbers in the 10" but for me im gonna adjust point of aim to right center of that 10" ring and call it good. In my opinion there will be a 15" ring at 40 yards that there will be no escaping.
Thanks again William.
I plan on mounting my FF to this gun and patterning more later in the week.

10s are awesome, I know in some guns a duplex of 9x10 can put up incredible numbers. Some guns straight 9s put up higher numbers in the 10. But those 10s sure fill out the 20.

The Hatfield sure are easy to find! I tried buying one at Wal-Mart but no one was there on a Saturday at 2 p.m. who could do it. Not even the assistant or store manager. SMH. I think all the Hatfield are modified so you have almost no chance of a factory 40 yard turkey killing pattern. With the yildiz you almost certainly have a 35 and in many cases 40 yard gun out the box with tss. I do like the hidden hammer of the yildiz.

Does the Hatfield really weigh over four pounds? It appears more stoutly built than the Yildiz in the picture.

I did hold it at walmart. It's heavier than the yildiz for sure.

Would you guys have any reservations getting a shotgun that only had a fixed full barrel?
