Benelli M2 Scope
Benelli M2 Scope
Anyone running a scope on their M2 20? I'm hearing concerns over drilling the aluminum receiver and how well it might hold up?
Thanks

Not sure about a scope, but Rob Roberts drilled and tapped mine for an ff3. You could call them and ask, his shop does all the custom work for Benelli

I run a Speed Bead mount and a Burris FF III on my M2 20 and love it, with the Speed Bead mount you can sight down your rib and use the bead in case you forgot to turn it on or the battery goes dead.

Re: Benelli M2 Scope
The weight of the scope is what you got to look at. About any of the Red Dot type work fine. Now the 8-40 hold more but 6-48 give you room for 8-40 if ever have trouble. Now think about this most the guns out are aluminum.
Re: Benelli M2 Scope
The scope weighs 8.5 oz. couple for the rings Sumtoy, are you saying tap it for 6-48 and don't worry about it?

Re: Benelli M2 Scope
we have did it with the red dot. I have not did one with the scope. The scope is ruff on about any shotgun. Had remington come in this year with scope and it had beat the screws out. Now it could have been lose and did it I dont know. We was able to go with the bigger screw and he drop to a small sight. If I was going to do it I would run the longest screw I could. Then put some kind of adhesive.
Re: Benelli M2 Scope
Benelli does not recommend tapping the 20 gauge receiver.

Talked to both yesterday and they say they do it all the time. Some of their slug guns come tapped. Roberts said they just did 200 last week. Benelli guy even wondered why it was not standard...davisd9 wrote:Take that up with them, just sharing what I was told.turkeyinstrut wrote:But yet they have Rob Roberts drill and tap their Performance Shop guns.davisd9 wrote:Benelli does not recommend tapping the 20 gauge receiver.

Re: Benelli M2 Scope
Seems like a 1 oz red dot like an FF III would be the safer option.
