scored me a Venom red dot

Post by Hoobilly »

got it on eBay.. used for $185 with a universal pistol mount I may have sold for $25. so hopefully I will only have $160 in this set up

I used a weaver base from a Savage Axis.. or maybe it was off a Savage 220 slug gun.. I can't rightly remember. Had to use a lil hand saw and a file to get it to fit. Lord willing I will be making bases here in the near future and start selling some that will fit a variety of red dots.

 Did you ever confirm whether the Vortex Venom would fit on the Burris Marlin 336 base?

I just got one a couple weeks ago and it does fit the Marlin 336 base.

Thanks. I had one FFIII fail on me. Burris was great about replacing it quickly, but if the second one goes I'm going to try the Venom.

it seems like it is better made. I like the Venoms on off & brightness settings being the same switches

It's like a molded rubber. I figure I'll loose mine the first day.

On your second picture, notice a glare. Need to check this out outside with someone at different shooting distances.
I had a reflex, a few years ago, spooked 3 gobblers along with hens, made a cover, but sold it and never looked back. Got a Vortex Spitfire red dot, great scope.

I have very bright lights for taking pictures of stuff my wife sells on eBay and amazon..

thats why it has a glare like that. Have used a Burris FF2 and the turkeys never noticed it
