1st Gobbler of the Season - PA

Well, on the 3rd Saturday of the season, I was able to connect on this nice gobbler @ 6:37am. A storm system was moving through the area and the last heavy rain shower hit around 6:10-6:15. I was sitting on the ground in a spot I'd cleared out the previous weekend where I've seen gobblers/hens in the past and where my Dad killed one a couple years before.
I wasn't quite soaked, but had water running down my right side when I see on my phone that there was a text message. It's from my Dad asking me if I was getting wet.........being the funny guy that he is. Meanwhile, he's sitting a few hundred yds away in my DB ground blind staying dry. After texting him back, I slowly set the phone back down and slowly turned to my left to look at the decoys, and there he is, walking around my 1/4 strut decoy unaware of me 40yds away. He never gobbled or made a sound and had come in from behind over my left shoulder. In fact, I hadn't made a single call either as I wanted to see what would come through all on their own.
I waited a bit for him to clear the decoy and got the gun into position. When he was moving ever so slowly to the right of the deke, I shot him @ 39-40yds. I was using my 12ga 11-87 with a Sumtoy choke and a hand loaded 3", 2oz 7x7 blend.
Weight was 16-17lbs, 9 5/8" beard and 1 1/8" spurs. Not a heavy bird, but I'll take him. Still have 1 more PA tag left.
