Second bird down

Post by pedro »

Went back to same spot my dad killed his bird on the 15th. When time for the gobbling to commence we were within earshot of three groups of gobbling birds. I felt as though we could be in good shape. The closet of the birds was 200 yards and the further group was 600 yards away. After fly down one one of the birds kept gobbling so I decided to close the distance. I slipped down one side and up the other to where I thought he might be. I find a spot to hide and call softly to no answer. I then cut a few times aggressive and am answered by a gobble. He his close, so close you feel the ground shake beneath your feet. The hairs are standing up on the back of my neck now. I hear him drumming and he is coming my way. I spy his fan then his head. He doesn't see a hen and comes out of strut. I fire My gun and my second TSS bird 20ga is down at 40 yards. Nice bird with a great set of spurs!
