Last Hunt of the season

Post by Shooter »

Well, Lily and I hooked up with several duck huntin buddies, for a last Hoorah of the season.
Took the New loads of course. Gave them out to the guys to try.
Ended up with a few Redheads, Teal, Shovelers, Gadwalls, and Ringnecks.
Not a bad morn to close the season with. In case anyone's wondering, Lily held her own with the bigshots. She even took the first one,...lol

Looks good. I was going to hang it up after the Mississippi trip but a buddy called late last night and we flat out murdered the wood ducks. Then another buddy called and have another good one lined up for tomorrow morning. I will try to get some pics up after tomorrows hunt.

JR, lets see them birds! I think we both have had a decent season. Maybe we can hook up next season.
Thanks everyone, sure wish they were Greenheads though. I love all ducks, but Mallards give me a stiffy,...lol. We have tons of Woodies here, but we didn't really get after them this year.
Lily wouldn't let us, she said in China, they call them love ducks. She claims that when one of the pair dies, the other goes off and dies. Don't know much truth there is to that, but do know they mate for life. LOL, we have let hundreds live on, so they can do whatever they do.
Took a couple early, had to sleep on the couch a few nights,...lol
Good luck in the morn JR.

Well the final day didnt turn out as good as I wanted. Plenty of birds but they would not move. Had teal, gadwall, mottled ducks, and pintail swimming all morning just out of range. We finally made a move and I scraped a few up. Ended up with 2 teal and a nice pintail. I lost a mottled and a teal. Also poor shooting today played a role in not limiting out. Here is the only pic worth sharing today.

I dont know what the other guys ended up with because I left to go get some sleep before work. Tommy you are more than welcomed to come hunt but I cant made any promises. If all goes well I will be joining the club in Mississippi so I'll have somewhere for us to go.

That Pintail looks flawless, I have a feeling he is gonna get mounted.
I've never got one, we don't have many here in TN. I shot one when I was a kid with the 20, but couldn't recover him.

Man, I miss waterfowling. Physically got too demanding with my arthritic knees. Great pics. You know, I never did get Ducks to taste that good. Worse wild game I've ever tasted.

You have got to marinade them for 3 or 4 weeks, then they are pretty good.
Someone always told me,... if you did a piece of shoe leather the same way, it would good too,...lol
