Knocked the Rust Off

Post by Prospector »

Went and set on a fields edge in noted turkey territory. It was just before 5pm when I sat down. It’s been slow so my main aim was to maybe lay eyes or ears on some turkeys going to roost for an am hunt. I called a couple times just to hear my Houndstooth Slate then just sat back and relaxed for the next 1 1/2 hrs. At 630pm I looked and saw a gobbler standing tall so I sent a yelp his way and to my surprise he dropped into strut and headed my way! He was not in a hurry and even gobbled 3-4 times on the way to politely be sure I didn’t lose him. Anyway, at just before 7pm and shortly before fly up he drummed his way into 37yds and one shot later I had my first of the season. He was so cooperative and polite- I appreciate hunts like that!!!
