Mo Dead!

Post by ole5beards »

After seeing endless threads on TSS and how these patterns are killer, I decided to get into loading. I know most of you guys would agree that dead is dead but some of these patterns would lead me to believe that some of yalls turkeys are more dead than others. But with the TSS you use smaller shot sizes, so Im doing something different. I'm loading lead #2's!! I won't get as many pellets in my shell as most of the TSS shells but after the damage that a couple #2's will do on ol Toms noggin I would be safe to say that then those turkeys would be more deader!! I imagine I would have about 17-18 in the 10" and maybe 21 in the 20" but a turkey ain't toting a load of 2's without being more deader!! So I'm naming this load, More Deader 2's!! Taking orders now,who wants in?!

What ounce load? I was pondering recently what a TSS 2 would do at 100 yards. 1 hit might take him down.

Hey man do yourself a favor and get a couple calico plant leaves and a couple badonka dekes and then you might be able to call'em in close and not need a hundred yard shell ! :dontknow: ;)

And I believe in some states 8's and 9's are illegal. Good idea to check where ever you hunt.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.

I was just trying to lighten the mood! My grandad has some old turkey shells that are #2's. Years ago when nitros where the big thing he overheard me talking about them and said"I have some of those at the house" I knew exactly what he was talking about too. Sure enough we get to his house and he hands me a bag of old remington nitro turkey shells and they were the #2's. He heard how much they were and thought he'd save me some money by giving me his, I didn't have the heart to tell him, I just smiled and said thank you.

I got a buddy who shoots steel #2s. I bet he don't have 100pellets in 10" at 10yds. I keep tellin him they are not turkey shells but he has a bunch. A miss here or a wound there doesn't matter to him. Pisses me off.

I can load em in anything. Even doing 410s now, but with only 5 or 6 of them big pellets, the pattern is gonna be a bit thin!

Let me tell ya a funny story bout the 10,... at least I thought it was funny. Kind-of had to be there.
Me and Pop were huntin in MS, on my Grand Pa's farm years ago. We both were shooting 10s. I had the Auto, and he had a BPS with black plastic stocks. The forearm was kind-of sharp on the end closest to the shooter. I had several different loads back then, but he liked the big, heavy 2 3/4oz monster at 1100fps, with CP 4s mixed with the 2s.
Anyways, we head out from the old farm house in separate directions. After maybe an hour, I hear the cannon go off back in the far field.
By the time I get over there, I hear him mumbling about how far the shot was. He was covered in blood. On his clothes, his face, all over.
I said, you and that turkey have a big fight or what?? Dang, did that turkey bleed that much?? He said no, but look where I was sitting, and look at all the feathers where he was. He was 55yds,... Wow, what a shot he says.
He was so happy with that turkey, and was giggling and carrying on about it, he forgot what had happened.
I ask again, Yea, but where did all the blood come from??
He says, Oh, I didn't have a good grip on the fore arm, and the recoil split my hand open.
He didn't have to have stitches or anything, but it was almost like a horror flick with all the blood all over.
Wish I carried a cam back then!
