daily dose of vitamin C (coyotes)
Had a fun filled morning.. on my way to meet my son and get coffee-donuts I took a detour to check and see if this dairy farm had coyotes on it. been seeing them pretty regular around there and sure enough two more lovers were laying out in the snow enjoying some nice sunshine.
When I knew they were there, I drove down and turned around and on the way back through I seen the one up and moving.
Drove to the dairy farm, went up to a hired hand and asked if the boss man was around. SI he said, in the office.
Walked through the door and 5 of them were shooting the bull. All of them looked at me and got quiet.
I asked them, do you want them stinking coyotes killed?
They all laughed and the one feller who lives in the farm house down the street where I seen the yotes asked me if they were out there.
I said yeah, the same 2 out of 5 running that block were out there laying in the sun having fun.
He then asked me If I was gonna go right them to try and shoot them, as they been messing with his dogs something fierce.
I said heck yeah.
They all laughed and said everyones been out there trying to kill them.
I'll try and kill both and come back to tell you about it I said when I spun to walk out the door. I really think that they thought there was no way I was gonna get a shot on them.
Drove down the road, parked along the edge of the woods, loaded up, grabbed my shooting stick my bud Jason from Athens Archery give me yesterday afternoon, started walking on the east side of the woods. Man, the spots where the sun was hitting good it was soft and deep. By the time I got to the corner of the woods I was huffing and puffing. (200 yards from Jeep)
At the corner of the woods its a small hill and I was able to look over it. I really was expecting to see the notes ll the way to the west end as I had been seeing them there. But I found them 200 yards from. Male laying 50 yards from his girlfriend and she was laying in the edge of the woods.
I got the shooting stick up, gun on it and got on him.. after taking the time to try and calm down and be steady, I squeezed the trigger and he jumped up and spun around.. that female, she jumped up (shot probably sounded like it came from woods) and ran past him a 100 yards and I whiffed. She took off like a rocket and I worked the bolt a third time and got back on her. She stopped about 200 yards away, broadside and I punched a 168 grain Federal Sierra Matching HPBT thru her boiler plate. I have never had a yote run away from a 308. at least not a 100-yards or so.
I seen a mist from her when I shot, but she jumped just a hair and took off like the hounds of hell was chasing her. I worked the bolt again and got on her as she was running over a lil knob in the field. and watched her just roll over. Immediately I called my son to see where he was, and told him to come out there and help me get these 2 lovers to the road. ( I really need a drag line)
heres the female..
heres her lover boy..

Well done.. You are a coyote killin' machine.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
