Coyote pistol kill!

Post by kythunter »

Sunday 9-23-18 afternoon 3pm CST I'm walking to my trail camera to switch SD cards when a doe runs down the hollow past me about 40 yards, within seconds I see a coyote running down her trail so I pull out my Ruger LCP Custom .380 and think I'm gonna try to kill this varmint. I start calling to him natural voice (coon/rabbit distress) and he stops on a dime at 30 yards to my left. He turns and heads my way head down a little. He goes thru some thick stuff a comes to an opening at 15 yards facing towards me angled slightly left. The first shot was high miss I think, he turns to the right and start to run away and the second shot hits him a little back. He turns and bites at the hit covering a little ground but not much I get a couple more shots and he died fairly quick. Shortly after a second coyote comes the same direction and stops about 30 yards looks at me and bark/growls then takes off. My pistol was empty by then lol. LCP holds 6 rounds but I had 5 in the clip. Hornady personal defense hollow points did the job.

Nice!! Not every day that you shoot a coyote with your carry gun. Impressive!!
Well done!
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

WTG! Thought this was going to be a thread about someone shooting a scoped Contender or something in .223. But to kill one with with your carry gun is very cool. That is some nice shooting right there.

Thanks for the comments men, glad I can share this hunt with you. One cool thing was how quick the coyote stopped and headed my way, it was quick. And that he came to my call.
Everything happened fast, a few things I learned are to slow down and control trigger speed, I was firing too fast but that was adrenaline I reckon.
And carry an extra clip. :)
