Anybody trap raccoons

Post by OLE RASPY »

I bought 3 duke coon cuffs. I’m fixin to trap me some coons. First time doing this. I’m gonna wait till deer season is over to start. I’ll only be doing it on weekends so I can check them.

It's been years (like 30), but I haven't used those. We used foot holds, set in front of holes that we created at waters edge, usually a creek or spring, and set the trap in the water.

Have used those traps for several years. They work, but the coons get smart to them very quick. I would bait them for a few nights without setting the traps so they get used to digging in them for the bait. Then, set them all one night and go get your coons. Catch rate will decrease significantly once they see their buds getting caught.

Yep....I use the same traps. They work great. Get a possum in em every once in a while, too. I mix up cat food and corn. I've also put sardines in em, along with corn. I don't think it much matters. It's all worked for me. Oh, just fill it up about half way

I set the 3 traps last night after deer hunting. Went back this morning and caught 2.Had atrail cam attach to the one tree at 5 ft up and it was at bottom of tree this morning flipped towards the tree. Never would have thought that coon could get it that high since he had one front foot caught.

I’ve been usin dog food in a apple juice jug. Full of dog food, maple syrup, and vanilla flavoring. Shake up good to make sure all is coated with the sweet stuff. Lol. I’m no expert though. Just giving this a try and it’s worked for 3 of them anyway.

They work great! Their death on raccoons and possums. Big marshmallows under the trigger, and on top are the tIcket. Very simple, but effective. Often both feet caught

I love trapping coons. Easiest bait I have found and it works great.

catfish food/ slice up apples/ let the apples shrivel up and your bait is ready.

it is mess free, and the coons love the fishy/sweet taste.
