Day 21 of the 2017 Ohio Squirrel Season

Post by HunterGKS »

Brad’s Mom’s Woods 09/21/2017 A.M.

I was leaving the house about 07:30 this morning & was greeted by a bright red sunrise. The pics, taken from the end of my driveway, don’t do the real thing justice!!

I got into the woods at 07:46, temp 66, sunny (obviously), a few white fluffy clouds & a slight breeze. As I was nearing my spot, I saw 2 coons departing the area post haste. I kept hearing something moving around, on the ground I though, but, with a plane flying over & heavy equipment noise from the NW, I couldn’t locate what ever it was. When it got totally quiet at 07:56, I heard the noise above me & spotted a coon about 20’ up a tree to my right about 10’.

Between 09:05 & 09:24, I took a walk-about going along the south edged of the woods, then back to the north side, & into the east woods. Usually these walk-abouts yield a few foxes but none so far this year.

I’ve been finding myself getting bored more quickly the last couple of hunts & may take a few days off next week to rejuvenate. I headed to the house at11:00 with the temp up to 86. I had though about going behind the house this afternoon but it will be hotter & I’ll probably do some catch-ups instead.

If I do go out, it'll be in the mornings next week except for Tuesday when I change my trail
cam card after working out, errands, & lunch. I may hit the woods on the way home today.

A little rain would be nice but we're not in dire need.

Wash that car again, & again, & again until it rains. It will work eventually.
