A slow day, but it was still fun!

Post by derbyacresbob »

I called from before sunrise until a little after sundown on Friday.

I got the above coyote on my fourth stand of the day. It came in from my left and it stopped when I muted the the sound on my Foxpro. It was about an 90 yard shot with my 243.

I didn't call in another coyote until just after the sun went down. I made a stand and had some coyotes howling at me from about a mile away on the other side of a ridge. Nothing came in so I moved towards the coyotes that I had heard and got about 3/4 of a mile closer.

I played a female howl sound for about 45 seconds and then switched to Pup Distress 3 sound. About 45 seconds later I saw a coyote heading my way fast about 400 yards away. In not much time at all I shot the coyote about 20 yards from me with my shotgun. The coyote was about 12 yards from my Foxpro.
