My New Everyday Carry.

Post by Hognutz »

Here are a few pics of my new everyday carry pistol. It is a kahr PM9 with night sights. 9mm. Extremely accurate, and fun to shoot. It is a very concealable pistol, and can be pocket carried easily. I have a Galco Stinger holster for OWB carry. It is invisible under a tee shirt.

Both of them are fine lookin weapons. I carry a Ruger 380 LCP but am thinking about increasing the horsepower of my carry gun. Still not sure what to get . What do the PM9's run ? I also like that Sig P229.

Thanks for the pics vaturkey :struttin:

The PM9 starts at around $700. Night sights are an extra $80 and the black slide is an extra $30. They have a model called a CM9, which has the same internals, but a matte finish stainless steel slide, pinned front sight, and a non machined slide stop pin. It has the same great Kahr trigger. It is on sale at the local Gander Mountain, right now for $399. That is a good deal. They only come with one magazine, where the PM9 comes with a 6 and a 7 shot. Kahr's require a break-in period, (200 shots or so), and can be finicky until this is done. This is my first Kahr, and have 220 rounds through it with zero failures..I love that little gun. It is little for a 9mm. Go get your hands on one at a gunshop and see what you think..
The Sigs are a great gun, hold lots of rounds, and are really accurate. I have a 229 in .40S&W. and a 226 in 9mm. Mike

Here's a pic of my Kahr P9, 25 oz unloaded, 7+1 capacity, very controllable and very accurate. I've got around 1,000 rounds through mine with no failures of any kind including during break-in. Great pistols.

My PM9 had a glitch in it. It would shoot FMJ ammo, all day long. I broke it in with a plethora of different FMJ, with no problems.. None.. I then switched to some JHP, to see what shot good for self defense, and the slide would lock open after most every shot. It turns out that the slide lock pin was out of spec, and the differently shaped JHP would bump the pin up as it cycled out of the mag and into the chamber, thus, locking the slide back as if the mag was empty. I sent it back to Kahr and they fixed it the first time.. Had it back in a week, and have not had a failure since. My nephew bought the CM9 and has had zero problems with it. They are great little pistols. Easily hid, unbelievably small, very accurate, and have a smooth as butter trigger, albeit, a little long. I love my PM9..

had a Colt 45. 1911, too expensive to shoot, bought a new Smith n wesson .22 auto. Still have a box of Winchester .45 Black Talons, always someone locally trying to get them off me.

I've got the PM9 and PM380. Night sights on the 9. I carry a Ruger LCP 380 daily. The PM380 is not broken-in so still a few hiccups. The Ruger and PM9 don't. Only complaint about the LCP is the sights. MY PM380 is buried in the safe, but here are the other two. I like Buffalo Bore in the 380 Ruger. 90 gr JHP in the snout, followed up with a clip full of 100 gr. FN Hardcast. Next time someone points out the lack of stopping power of the 380 ask if they will volunteer to stand downrange while you pop off a few. ;)
