Toastmaster 11.6 Quart Air Fryer

Post by HunterGKS »

I have been thinking about buying an air fryer for quite a while & finally bite the bullet.
Based on a recommendation from a friend, (thx Sandie), I decided on the Large Toastmaster.

I ordered it Monday morning & received it this morning. It came with a rotisserie/skewer/shish
kabob attachment, 11 skewers, 3 wire racks, & a drip pan. It is all digital & has 8 preset
temperature/time settings. You can also manually set the time and/or temperature.

I planned on cooking a large chicken quarter with fries for supper. The poultry preset temp is
370 for 30 minutes & the fries, the same temp for 15 minutes. I started the chicken on the
bottom level so the drippings wouldn’t get on the fries & set a timer for 15 minutes, at which
time, I put in the 1 tray of homemade fresh cut fries on the top level. The chicken was too big
& I couldn’t get the 2nd rack of fries on the middle level.

After 30 minutes, I checked the chicken & it wasn’t done. The fries turned out well. I put in
the second tray of fries & started another 30 minute cycle. I think maybe the chicken was too
thick. I’ll have to find an online cookbook for air fryers.

After the 2nd 30 minutes, the chicken was done. The skin was nice & crispy & the meat juicy.
For a 1st time effort, I was pleased.

The clean-up is minimal & it is pretty easy to use. You do need to have something heat resistant
to sit it no & not directly on counter tops. I used a large cutting board. It is also reasonably priced
at $100 through Wally World.

Now, if I can find a cookbook, I’ll be set.

Well we had a air fryer till tonight. Lol.
Wife cooked French fries in ours. We got done eating and was cleaning up, I took trash out and came back in and smelt something burning. But couldn’t put my nose on it.
Wife was looking at air fryer. I said what’s wrong she said this thing is smoking. And I could see it once she said it. It was unplugged and sitting on the stove top. She was washing the tray. So she sit it on stove top while she was washing tray. I couldn’t see the burner lights behind it or nothing. So she picked it up and was gonna move it to counter and at that point I knew what she had done. I said honey the damn burner is on and it has melted the damn bottom out of it on to stove. Then she realized. Melted plastic was on the floor as well as the burner. So I opened door and told her to throw the damn thing in garbage. Waited for the plastic on floor to harden before getting up and on burner as well.
She still don’t know how burner got turned on. Lol.

We use ours more each month. My wife did fried chicken in it last night. Kind of like shake and bake but better crisp. They are handy to use.
