Vest recommendation
Vest recommendation
What kind of vest do you recommend for run and gun turkey hunting? Thanks
Re: Vest recommendation
I used a Super Elite for years from IL to MT with no problems. It could be a little warm but it was never a problem.
I bought a Super Tatr III from Cabelas last year and really like it. I can't carry as much stuff as before but that isn't always a bad thing.

Re: Vest recommendation
I prefer an old long-sleeved jungle fatigue top, Hot Weather Coat, Camoflage pattern, 100% Rip Stop Cotton.
It has large bellows pockets on the chest and at the waist. I have two of the coats. The pockets have double buttoned flaps with a second flap over the button holes. I carry truck keys, phone and wallet in the top pockets with a plastic call case made from a shoe polish can sized mint container with holes drilled in the bottom. My waist pockets hold a box turtle slate call and a smaller glass call. Three stikers are carried in the other pocket in a soft waterproof pouch.
I wear cargo pants with a Thermocell in the largest pocket. In my pants pockets, I carry two extra shells, gloves to hold them in place, a small serrated folding knife, a cheap LED light, and a turkey tote. A small closed foam pad which is clipped to my belt on the right side. I wear two lanyards with a wingbone on one and a cane yelper and small soft mouth call pouch on the other. A Cammenga Tritium wrist compass is threaded on one lanyard for dark work. An old LLBean ghillie top covers it all. On top of the ghillie top, right wrist, I wear a Suunto wrist compass with adjustable bezel for shooting and reading azimuths in daylight. On my head is a ball type cap with built in face mask. I rarely carry a box. I like traveling light. Gil
